former Winnfield police officer pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges of manslaughter and official malfeasance in the racially explosive case of a 21-year-old African-American man who died after being shocked with a Taser nine times while handcuffed and in police custody.
Scott Nugent, 21, will remain free on $45,000 bond. He faces up to 45 years in prison if convicted.

Thanks for the email heads up on this. I’m going to post on it at the Jena 6 blog since I”m cataloging the case there; due to Scooter Pikes being Mychael Bell’s cousing, and since we find some of the underlining elements in this case that are the same underlining elements in the Jena 6 case.
